Hello Everyone, Today we are giving you information about How Al, loT, Big Data Analytics is being used in IPL. If you like this information, please share it with your friends. Leave me a comment to improve my writing skills and subscribe by email for future updates.
Key Points:
- Speculur BatSense
- Power Bats
- SuperStats
- CricScience
- Al-based Bowling Machines
Speculur BatSense
Speculur, a Bengaluru-based sports-tech startup collaborated with Intel to come up with a sensor named 'Speculur Batsense' which is mounted on the top of the handle of the bat.
This technology was first used in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and is being currently used in IPL.
The device gathers data by using a machine learning algorithm with every stroke.
Power Bats
Anil Kumble partnered with Microsoft and came up with Spektacom, an Al-powered cricket bat that uses a loT-based sensor sticker.
Spektacom uses a mini sticker sensor on a cricket bat to collect data on the quality, speed, twist, and swing of the bat, and the data generated is analyzed with the help of powerful Al models that are developed in Azure.
SuperStats
ESPNcricinfo, a cricket website, launched SuperStats in the year 2018 to forecast the events of the game. The series makes use of three elements namely Smart Stats, Luck Index, and Forecaster, to predict an event in a game.
These metrics have been derived by using the ball-by-ball database from ESPNcricinfo and the complex ML algorithms developed by IIT Madras and Gyan Data.
CricScience
The fusion of Cricket with Data science gives birth to CricScience. Data science is not only helpful for predicting the most favorable team for a tournament but it is also helpful in extracting valuable insights for other use cases.
For eg:- Virat Kohli has been caught several times at the short cover while playing one of his favorite shots in the IPL 2020.
Al-based Bowling Machines
Due to the increasing practice and analysis going behind the scenes, bowling machines have too evolved to provide the batsmen with varied but precise net sessions.
Advanced machines use Al and ML algorithms to replicate all variations a human can bowl.
All teams in the IPL are currently using such machines to leverage the power of technology in their practice.
